Eighties Invasion

At a house party in the fall of 1986, I made out with a girl who looked/dressed like the girl on the left. Second base. I was so drunk that I crawled out onto the lawn like one of the poor wretches who'd tried and failed to unlock the mystery of "the Mount Everest of Haunted Houses."

We remained friends but never spoke of this night again. She never married.

No man's hands could ever feel her up the same way again. Why settle for a weak imitation.

By the way, when I was actually in the eighties, I remember thinking fashion finally looked normal after the seventies. I was an idiot.

I thought the girls were cute in their faux Madonna garb. Yes, it looks awful to the discriminating eye now but we can't rewrite or redress history.

True, I'm just saying at the time I thought "twenty years from now these fashions won't be obviously from the 80's as the 70's fashions are." Personally, having grown up with the movies and tv shows of the fifties and sixties I greatly appreciated the return to high-maintenance dressing by women. I hated the barefoot, bell-bottomed dirty hippie look. Give me June Cleaver anyday over rose-tinted sunglassed Janice Joplin type.
